Unauthorized endpoint access via fixed-offset URL parsing
Published Sep 4, 2025 · Updated Sep 5, 2025
Path confusion in Hono 4.8.0 through 4.9.5 allows remote attackers to bypass proxy ACLs via malformed absolute-form request URIs. The getPath utility uses fixed offsets to locate the path in a request URL, so malformed scheme and authority layouts shift extraction to the wrong slash. Exposure requires an environment that accepts the malformed URI and relies on proxy ACLs to protect a sensitive endpoint; successful requests disclose endpoint data without authorization.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
