Unauthenticated file disclosure via WMS entity expansion
Published Nov 25, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026
XXE in GeoServer before 2.25.6 and 2.26.0 through 2.26.1 allows remote attackers to read server files through WMS GetMap. The GetMap XML parser accepts a request-supplied document type and resolves external entities without sufficient restriction. No authentication or user interaction is required; entity resolution can disclose local files, reach internal services, or exhaust resources.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
