CVE-2025-58359Network attack vector

Participant share security loss via missing threshold validation

Published Sep 4, 2025 · Updated Sep 5, 2025

Missing threshold validation in Zcash Foundation FROST 2.0.0 through 2.1.0 allows attackers to weaken shares via a refresh operation. frost_core::keys::refresh accepts a refreshed package whose min_signers differs from the current key package, then combines its signing share instead of rejecting the mismatch. The operation requires access to an application's share-refresh workflow, and the exact security loss to participant shares remains undetermined.
