Service interruption via quadratic name-constraint checking
Published Oct 29, 2025 · Updated Oct 29, 2025
Algorithmic complexity in Go standard library crypto/x509 before 1.24.9 and 1.25.0 through 1.25.2 allows remote attackers to interrupt service. The verifier repeatedly compares certificate names with overlapping permitted and excluded subtrees, producing quadratic work instead of sorting, pruning, and searching the constraints. Exposure requires a program to validate an attacker-controlled certificate chain; the resulting CPU consumption can delay or deny that program's service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=0 <1.24.9
