CVE-2025-58063Public exploitNetwork attack vector

DNS service interruption via lease ID TTL conversion

Published Sep 9, 2025 · Updated Sep 10, 2025

TTL confusion in CoreDNS 1.2.0 through 1.12.3 allows remote authenticated users to interrupt DNS updates through the etcd plugin. The TTL() function casts a 64-bit etcd lease identifier to uint32 and uses the result as a DNS TTL instead of querying the lease duration. Exploitation requires etcd write access; downstream caches can retain stale or attacker-selected service records for years, blocking failovers, rotations, and rollbacks.
