CVE-2025-58060Public exploit

Authentication bypass via mismatched authorization scheme

Published Sep 11, 2025 · Updated Sep 11, 2025

Authentication bypass in OpenPrinting CUPS 2.4.12 and earlier allows local users to access protected scheduler resources. The cupsdAuthorize function in scheduler/auth.c accepts an Authorization Basic header under a non-Basic AuthType, skips password validation, and treats the supplied administrator name as authenticated. Exploitation requires a configuration permitting a non-Basic AuthType; the demonstrated consequence is unauthorized modification of cupsd.conf.
