Stored XSS via deprecated shortcode rendering
Published Sep 22, 2025 · Updated Sep 22, 2025
Stored XSS in Benjamin Pick Geolocation IP Detection 5.5.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through a shortcode. The deprecated geoip_detect shortcode renders contributor-controlled content without adequate neutralization, storing script markup that executes when the affected page is viewed. Contributor access is required, and successful exploitation requires another user to load the stored content, exposing that user's browser session to script execution.
