Container-root escalation via group-writable passwd

Privilege escalation in Red Hat OpenShift AI ModelMesh container images allows local users to gain root privileges within a container. During image builds, /etc/passwd receives group-write permissions, allowing a process in the root group to append an account with UID 0. Exploitation requires command execution inside an affected container and root-group membership; OpenShift's default restricted-v2 SCC blocks the required set-user-ID and set-group-ID operations.
