CVE-2025-57798Public exploit

Application crash via unbounded note title allocation

Published May 19, 2026 · Updated May 19, 2026

Resource exhaustion in Laurent Cozic Joplin before 3.7.1 allows local users to crash the application with an oversized note title. BaseModel.userSideValidation previously accepted title strings without a maximum length, so UI entry or an authenticated POST to the local /folders/ API exhausts the process heap. API exploitation requires a compromised local service token; a saved oversized title can make later launches crash immediately.
