Unauthenticated API access via disclosed built-in password
Published Aug 20, 2025 · Updated Aug 20, 2025
Authentication bypass in Commvault CommCell 11.32.0 through 11.32.101 and 11.36.0 through 11.36.59 allows remote attackers to obtain an API token. The publicLink.do endpoint discloses the CommServe client GUID, while installation logic assigns that GUID as the built-in _+PublicSharingUser password. Encoding the disclosed GUID as that account's password at /commandcenter/api/Login returns a valid token whose permitted actions remain bounded by RBAC.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
