SYSTEM code execution via unsafe DLL search
Published Sep 16, 2025 · Updated Sep 16, 2025
DLL hijacking in CYRISMA Agent before 444 allows local users to execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM privileges on Windows. DataSpotliteAgent.exe searches its current directory for missing runtime DLLs, including CRYPTBASE.dll, and loads an attacker-supplied replacement. A low-privileged local account that can write a crafted DLL into the searched directory gains NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM execution when the agent runs.
