Service crash via unchecked dimension casts
Published Sep 2, 2025 · Updated Sep 2, 2025
Integer conversion errors in rust-ffmpeg 0.3.0 after commit 5ac0527 allow remote attackers to crash services via invalid dimensions. The cached method casts four u32 dimensions directly to c_int and passes zero or wrapped negative values to sws_getCachedContext, violating its positive-dimension preconditions. Reachability requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled scaling dimensions; the invalid call triggers undefined behavior, including assertions, out-of-bounds access, memory corruption, or a service crash.
