Administrative takeover via username-matching default passwords
Published Sep 12, 2025 · Updated Sep 12, 2025
Hard-coded credentials in H3C Device firmware R365V300R004 allow remote attackers to gain administrative access through network services. The firmware stores MD5-crypt hashes for root, useradmin, and telecomadmin in world-readable /etc/shadow, with each password matching its username. Exploitation requires network reachability and unchanged initial credentials; H3C disputes the CVE because its products prompt or enforce credential changes on first use.
