Privileged-session compromise via unsanitized preview fields
Published Sep 10, 2025 · Updated Sep 10, 2025
Stored XSS in Decap CMS 3.8.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through crafted content previews. The admin preview pane renders unescaped title, description, tag, and body values, preserving event-handler payloads in its browser DOM. A contributor or editor must save crafted content and a maintainer or reviewer must open its preview; execution then occurs in that higher-privileged CMS session.
