Service interruption via Object.prototype property injection
Published Sep 24, 2025 · Updated Sep 24, 2025
Prototype pollution in web3-core-subscriptions 1.10.4 and earlier allows remote attackers to interrupt applications via crafted subscription data. The attachToObject function follows a constructor-supplied name such as proto.polluted as a property path and writes through it, modifying Object.prototype. Reachability requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled subscription constructor data; successful pollution can crash or destabilize that application.
