Application denial of service via prototype pollution
Published Sep 24, 2025 · Updated Sep 24, 2025
Prototype pollution in sassdoc-extras 3.0.0 and earlier allows attackers to interrupt applications through crafted grouping data. The byGroupAndType function uses attacker-controlled group names as keys without blocking proto, then writes a type/value pair through the inherited prototype object. Exploitation requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled structured data to the library; the demonstrated consequence is process-wide property injection, with service interruption dependent on an application gadget.
