Service interruption via prototype-bearing state maps
Published Sep 24, 2025 · Updated Sep 24, 2025
Prototype pollution in Parse JavaScript SDK before 7.0.0-alpha.1 allows remote authenticated users to interrupt service via crafted class names. SingleInstanceStateController.initializeState indexes ordinary prototype-bearing state maps with an untrusted className, allowing special keys such as proto to modify inherited object state. Exploitation requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled className values into SDK state initialization; the documented consequence is service interruption.
