Prototype pollution via internal nestedRestore writes
Published Sep 24, 2025 · Updated Sep 24, 2025
Prototype pollution in fast-redact 3.5.0 and earlier allows attackers to modify Object.prototype through nestedRestore input. The internal nestedRestore utility follows deeply nested attacker-chosen paths and assigns restoration values without blocking prototype-chain targets. The supplier disputes exploitability because nestedRestore is undocumented and unreachable through the public API, and GitHub withdrew the advisory.
