Stored script execution via crafted avatar metadata
Published Sep 26, 2025 · Updated Sep 26, 2025
Stored XSS in Todoist 8484 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript in another user’s browser through a crafted avatar upload. The upload endpoint accepts a PNG whose Content-Type is changed to text/html and leaves script markup in the PNG tEXt Comment field unsanitized. Execution requires another user to preview or render the stored file, limiting the reported impact to that browser context.
