Privilege escalation via ACAP symlink following
Published Nov 11, 2025 · Updated Nov 11, 2025
Symlink following in the ACAP Application framework in AXIS OS 12.0.0 through 12.6.29 allows attackers to escalate privileges. The framework follows a package-controlled symlink while processing the installed ACAP package, redirecting a privileged file operation; Axis has not named that operation or path. Exploitation requires unsigned ACAP installation to be enabled and a privileged user to install the attacker's malicious application.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
