Local command execution via unfiltered launcher command
Published Jun 15, 2026 · Updated Jun 15, 2026
Command injection in the OpenCPN Launcher Plugin 1.3.5 for OpenCPN 5.12.0 allows local users to execute arbitrary commands. The LauncherUIDialog::OnBtnClick handler reads a user-defined launcher command, substitutes navigation placeholders, and passes the unfiltered string to wxExecute, where shell metacharacters chain additional commands. Exploitation requires low-privilege local access on Windows and runs injected commands with the OpenCPN process's privileges.
