CVE-2025-56799Public exploit

Local command execution via unsanitized cache path

Published Oct 21, 2025 · Updated Oct 21, 2025

OS command injection in the Reolink desktop application 8.18.12 allows local users to execute commands through a crafted cache path. The coverCacheClearScheduler invokes removeCoverCacheDir, which concatenates the configured temporary-folder path into rd or rm shell commands without sanitization. Exploitation requires local configuration-file modification or a chained flaw, and Reolink disputes the issue because the local user would be attacking the same account.
