Username enumeration via distinct login errors
Published Sep 29, 2025 · Updated Sep 29, 2025
Observable response discrepancy in Trivision NC-227WF firmware 5.80 allows remote attackers to enumerate valid usernames. The login mechanism returns “Unknown user” for nonexistent accounts and “Wrong password” for valid usernames paired with an incorrect password. No authentication or user interaction is required; the direct impact is disclosure of valid account names for follow-on password attacks.
