Account takeover via brute-forced reset tokens
Published Oct 15, 2025 · Updated Oct 15, 2025
Weak password recovery in Creativeitem Academy LMS 5.13 and earlier allows remote attackers to take over accounts via guessed reset tokens. Crud_model.php builds verification_code by Base64-encoding the account email, a fixed string, and a bounded random integer, while reset attempts lack rate limiting. The attack requires a known account email and interaction that creates a live reset request; a valid guess permits password replacement.
