Session hijacking via unchanged post-login session identifiers
Published Oct 15, 2025 · Updated Oct 15, 2025
Session fixation in Creativeitem Academy LMS 5.13 and earlier allows attackers to hijack authenticated user sessions via fixed session IDs. The Login.php controller's validate_login flow preserves the pre-authentication ci_session value when it records successful login state. Exploitation requires placement of a known session identifier in a victim's browser and the victim's subsequent authentication, after which the attacker can access that user's data and functions for the session's lifetime.
