Root command execution via unsanitized Object parameter
Published Sep 16, 2025 · Updated Sep 16, 2025
Command injection in Edimax BR-6473AX firmware 1.0.28 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands with root privileges. In /opt/lantiq/www/cgi/cgi, openwrt_getConfig splits the Object value on periods, concatenates the pieces into a command string, and passes it to system() without neutralizing shell metacharacters. Access to the router's CGI service from an adjacent network and valid low-privilege credentials is required; injected command output is returned in the response.
