CVE-2025-56557Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Guest-to-Administrator escalation via overprivileged Matter ICAC

Published Sep 16, 2025 · Updated Sep 16, 2025

Privilege escalation in Tuya Smart Life App 5.6.1 allows remote authenticated users to gain full control of Matter devices. The Tuya cloud's thing.m.matter.icac.issue API signs a guest-generated key, and the device ACL assigns the resulting controller level 5 Administrator access. An owner must first invite the attacker as a low-privilege guest; the guest can then install the ICAC in another controller, alter device ACLs, and retain control after removal from the home.
