Unauthenticated service crash via mobile identity parsing
Published Sep 23, 2025 · Updated Sep 23, 2025
Buffer overflow in the free5GC 4.0.1 AMF allows remote attackers to crash the service via a crafted 5GS mobile identity. MobileIdentity5GS.GetSUCI reads index five from a five-byte identity slice because Registration Request processing does not reject the short field. Access to the AMF N2 SCTP interface is sufficient to trigger a pre-authentication Go runtime panic and interrupt AMF service for the 5G core.
