Unauthenticated device crash via absent group ID
Published Jul 14, 2026 · Updated Jul 14, 2026
Use of an uninitialized value in Matter SDK before 1.4.0 allows remote attackers to crash a device with a malformed InvokeCommand. ExchangeManager logs a groupcast message by calling GetDestinationGroupId().Value() without first confirming that the optional group ID exists. An unauthenticated network request lacking that field reaches the aborting value access, causing SIGABRT and interrupting the affected Matter service.
