Session compromise via raw query-string rendering
Published Oct 30, 2025 · Updated Oct 30, 2025
Reflected XSS in JATOS 3.7.1 through 3.9.6 allows remote attackers to run JavaScript in a user's browser via a crafted study link. The studyEntry.scala.html template renders the untrusted code query parameter through @Html(queryString) inside a window.location.href assignment without contextual encoding. Execution requires a user to open the link; an authenticated administrator's session lets the script obtain a CSRF token and perform administrative actions.
