Unauthenticated code execution via unchecked IP copy
Published Jun 5, 2025 · Updated Jun 5, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in D-Link DIR-816 1.10CNB05 allows remote attackers to crash the router via a crafted LAN setup request. The form2lansetup.cgi handler copies the unbounded ip parameter into a local stack buffer, overwriting the function's return address. No authentication is required; the published proof of concept demonstrates persistent service interruption, while return-address control enables arbitrary code execution.
