Authenticated arbitrary file storage via unchecked extension
Published Sep 16, 2025 · Updated Sep 16, 2025
Unrestricted file upload in by-night sms 1.0 allows remote authenticated users to store arbitrary files through the avatar upload API. The upload method in com.zjh.sms.controller.Upload trusts the supplied filename extension and enforces file-type checks only in the frontend. A low-privileged account and network access are required; the proof of concept demonstrates storage of an executable-named file, not its execution.
