Router crash via unchecked QoS parameter copy
Published Jun 5, 2025 · Updated Jun 5, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in D-Link DIR-816 1.10CNB05 allows remote attackers to crash the router via crafted QoS parameters. The QoSPortSetup handler copies port0_group, port0_remarker, ssid0_group, or ssid0_remarker into a stack local without length validation, allowing the saved return address to be overwritten. No authentication is required; the public request demonstrates a persistent service crash, while the report states that return-address control enables arbitrary code execution.
