Update-source impersonation via missing certificate validation
Published Nov 5, 2025 · Updated Nov 5, 2025
Improper certificate validation in Tonec Internet Download Manager 6.42.41.1 and earlier allows attackers to bypass update protections. The update mechanism accepts a server certificate without performing the validation needed to authenticate the update source. Man-in-the-middle attackers need no account or user interaction to impersonate that source and intercept or substitute protected update content.
