Script execution via unsanitized author name
Published Oct 2, 2025 · Updated Oct 2, 2025
Reflected XSS in HTMLy 3.0.8 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript in a victim's browser through a crafted author URL. system/htmly.php passes the untrusted author name to default_profile without stripping tags or applying HTML-safe encoding, so the value is reflected into the response. Exploitation requires a victim to open the crafted URL and can expose browser-accessible data or perform actions in that user's session.
