Root command execution via SD card boot hook
Published Nov 13, 2025 · Updated Nov 14, 2025
Privilege escalation in Alaga Home Security WiFi Camera 3K firmware 1.4.2 allows physically proximate attackers to execute commands as root. The /etc/init.sh startup script checks the SD card for XC_${SYS_NAME}/HOOK.sh and executes a matching file as root without validating its contents. Physical access to insert a prepared SD card and reboot the camera is required; exploitation grants control of credentials, video, and audio.
