CVE-2025-55796Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Account takeover via predictable timestamp-derived tokens

Published Nov 18, 2025 · Updated Nov 18, 2025

Authentication bypass in OpenML openml.org 2.0.20241110 and earlier allows remote attackers to take over accounts via predictable tokens. The signup, confirmation, password-reset, and email-change handlers generate MD5 tokens solely from a current timestamp formatted as "%d %H:%M:%S", without user-specific data or cryptographic randomness. Unauthenticated access and an approximate generation time suffice to enumerate the small token window and reset a target's password without user interaction.
