Unauthenticated file creation and overwrite via filename manipulation
Published Aug 20, 2025 · Updated Aug 20, 2025
Path manipulation in Directus 10.8.0 through 11.9.2 allows remote attackers to overwrite or create files through the /files route. FilesService accepts an attacker-controlled filename_disk value when constructing a temporary storage path, allowing normalization to discard the temp_ prefix. Network access and a known asset UUID are required; successful requests silently replace stored content or create UI-hidden files, while code execution additionally depends on exposing the upload directory as executable content.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
