CVE-2025-55668Network attack vector

Session hijacking via unencoded Rewrite Valve redirects

Published Aug 13, 2025 · Updated Nov 4, 2025

Session fixation in Apache Tomcat 9.0.0.M1 through 9.0.105 allows remote attackers to hijack sessions through crafted URLs. In affected 9, 10, and 11 releases, RewriteValve sends redirects without encodeRedirectURL and reinvokes cross-context requests without clearing cached session information. The flaw requires an enabled Rewrite Valve and a victim to click the crafted URL, after which the victim accesses a resource in the attacker's session context.
