Process crash via unchecked sample-entry pointer
Published Jun 15, 2026 · Updated Jun 15, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in GPAC MP4Box 2.4 allows attackers to crash the process by importing a crafted MP4 file. When an unknown svcC box appears inside an av01 parent, unsupported-box handling leaves a sample-entry pointer invalid, and Track_SetStreamDescriptor dereferences it during bitrate updating. Supplying the file requires no authentication or special privileges, but MP4Box must import it; successful triggering terminates that process without reported data disclosure or modification.
