Application crash via stale GlobalQuantizer node pointer
Published Jun 15, 2026 · Updated Jun 15, 2026
Heap use-after-free in GPAC MP4Box 2.4 allows attackers to crash the application by processing a crafted MP4 file. BM_ParseGlobalQuantizer unregisters and frees a QuantizationParameter node for an invalid BIFS GlobalQuantizer command, then passes the stale pointer to gf_node_get_tag. No authentication or special privileges are required, but a user or workflow must invoke the MP4Box -svg scene dump on the file.
