Unauthenticated code execution via unchecked deviceName copy
Published Aug 22, 2025 · Updated Aug 22, 2025
A stack buffer overflow in Tenda AX3 firmware 16.03.12.10_CN allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted deviceName. The saveParentControlInfo handler copies deviceName into a fixed-size stack variable without checking its length, overwriting the function return address. A network HTTP request reaches the handler without user interaction; the public proof of concept demonstrates a persistent router crash, while code execution is asserted but not demonstrated.
