CVE-2025-55584Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Root account access via weak Telnet credentials

Published Aug 18, 2025 · Updated Aug 18, 2025

Weak credentials in TOTOLINK A3002R firmware 4.0.0-B20230531.1404 allow remote attackers to access the root account over Telnet. The firmware's shadow.sample file stores a reusable MD5 password hash, while its startup path launches telnetd on TCP port 23. Network access to the Telnet service and recovery of the weak password are required; successful authentication grants root-account access and exposes device data.
