Template secret disclosure via pre-redaction logging
Published Aug 15, 2025 · Updated Aug 15, 2025
Sensitive-data exposure in Backstage Scaffolder before 2.1.1 allows remote authenticated users to read template secrets from logs. BackstageLoggerTransport forwarded Winston SPLAT input values to the backend logger before emitting the redacted task message, creating a duplicate pre-redaction log path. Exposure requires a template author to pass secrets to fetch:template and an attacker to obtain Scaffolder or build-log access; integrity and availability are unaffected.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
