Authenticated privilege escalation via temporal cleanup injection
Published Sep 9, 2025 · Updated Feb 20, 2026
Command injection in Microsoft SQL Server allows remote authenticated users to elevate privileges through temporal table cleanup. Internal temporal history table cleanup fails to validate attacker-controlled input before incorporating it into executed SQL code. Low-privileged database access is required, and successful exploitation executes SQL code with elevated privileges against the server.
