Client termination via unbounded JSON Schema reference
Published Aug 13, 2025 · Updated Aug 14, 2025
Resource exhaustion in Helm before 3.18.5 allows remote attackers to terminate the client by supplying a malicious chart. ValidateAgainstSingleSchema passes values.schema.json to a resolver that reads attacker-selected device files such as /dev/zero without a resource bound. A Helm user must load the attacker-supplied chart; schema processing consumes available memory until the Helm process terminates.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
