CVE-2025-55194Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Persistent profile denial of service via uncaught exception

Published Aug 13, 2025 · Updated Aug 14, 2025

Denial of service in Part-DB before 1.17.3 allows remote authenticated users to make profiles inaccessible via an avatar upload. The profile template calls getThumbnailURL(), which throws an uncaught InvalidArgumentException when the stored avatar is not recognized as a picture. A user with profile-editing rights can persist this state, causing every user or administrator attempt to render the affected profile to return HTTP 500.
