Arbitrary URL processing via unauthorized synchronization messages

Published Aug 29, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026

Incorrect authorization in WhatsApp for iOS, Business for iOS, and Mac allows remote authenticated users to trigger arbitrary URL processing. Linked-device synchronization accepts a message from an unrelated account without adequate authorization and directs the target device to process content from an attacker-chosen URL.
