CVE-2025-55157Network attack vector

Application crash via recursive tuple evaluation

Published Aug 11, 2025 · Updated Aug 12, 2025

Use-after-free in Vim 9.1.1231 through 9.1.1399 allows attackers to crash the editor via an explicitly executed Vim script. In eval9_nested_expr, an error from recursive eval1 evaluation is not returned immediately, so tuple cleanup can dereference already freed memory. The user must explicitly execute a script containing a nested recursive tuple expression; the grounded consequence is an application crash.
