CVE-2025-55086Network attack vector

Device crash via unchecked DHCPv6 DUID read

Published Oct 20, 2025 · Updated Oct 20, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in Eclipse ThreadX NetX Duo before 6.4.4 allows remote attackers to crash or corrupt a device via a DHCPv6 reply. _nx_dhcpv6_process_server_duid in nxd_dhcpv6_client.c advances an index while parsing an EUI-64 DUID, then reads the final four bytes without verifying the remaining option length. Exploitation requires a target running the DHCPv6 client to accept a malformed or truncated server reply; no authentication or user interaction is required.
